ARRIVAL
When you arrive at the EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT, a nurse will perform TRIAGE, meaning they will assess the reason for your arrival and your condition.
You will be assigned a color code that will determine your priority for examination.
Documents and information to prepare
When you enter triage, it is important to have the following with you, if you possess them:
- Health insurance card (if available)
- TEAM or STP card (click for information)
Additionally, you must be ready to communicate:
- Which medications you take regularly (if possible, with a list or a photo of the packaging)
- If you suffer from known illnesses (for example, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems, or other pathologies)
- If you have any drug allergies
What happens during TRIAGE
When you enter the TRIAGE BOX, the nurse performs an initial assessment of your condition.
This assessment takes place in several steps:
You will be asked some questions:
You must explain:
- The problem for which you have come
- When it started
- Whether it has improved, worsened, or remained the same
Health information is collected:
The nurse will ask you:
- Which medications you take
- If you have any known illnesses
- If you have any allergies
If necessary, vital signs will be checked:
- Blood pressure
- Heart rate
- Temperature
- Oxygen saturation
Initial tests may be requested
In some cases, blood tests are performed immediately to begin the assessment
A cannula may be inserted for further blood sampling or the subsequent administration of medication.
What you will be given by the nurse:
A slip with a
THREE-DIGIT number.
This is the number by which you will
be called for your examination.

It must remain on your
wrist at all times.

Color codes
After triage, you are assigned a color code.
Subsequently, you will be directed to the waiting room:
- Remain in this area until you are called for the medical examination.
- You will be called by the assigned 3-digit number found on the slip given to you.
The color code serves to establish the waiting time
before the examination.
Contact the staff if your problem worsens.
Do not leave and do not wait in areas other than those indicated by the staff.

Where family members go
Family members cannot enter the examination areas, must not enter the wards, or look for the patient directly.
They must go to the relatives' waiting room, which will be indicated by the staff.
