{"id":138,"date":"2026-07-09T19:17:49","date_gmt":"2026-07-09T19:17:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/access-ps.org\/discharge\/"},"modified":"2026-07-09T19:17:49","modified_gmt":"2026-07-09T19:17:49","slug":"discharge","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/access-ps.org\/en\/discharge\/","title":{"rendered":"Discharge"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"accessps-page accessps-content accessps-narrow\">\n<section class=\"accessps-section\">\n<h1 class=\"accessps-title\">DISCHARGE<\/h1>\n<p>Always read your <strong>MEDICAL RECORD<\/strong> carefully when it is given to you, and if you have any questions, ask the staff. <strong>You will need to countersign the record upon discharge.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Below you will find the possible outcomes of your care pathway.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"accessps-section\">\n<h2>DISCHARGE TO HOME<\/h2>\n<p><strong>If you are discharged to home, you may return home.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The instructions to follow are in the<br \/><strong>&#8220;NOTES AND PRESCRIPTIONS&#8221;<\/strong> section of your documentation.<br \/>Here you will find:<\/p>\n<div class=\"accessps-two-col\">\n<ul>\n<li>medications to take<\/li>\n<li>any follow-up tests to perform<\/li>\n<li>the physician&#8217;s instructions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\t\t\t<span class=\"accessps-inline-icon accessps-inline-icon--pair\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/accesspstheme\/assets\/images\/accessps\/uscita\/icona-pillole.png\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/accesspstheme\/assets\/images\/accessps\/uscita\/icona-foglio-e-penna.png\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n<p>There may be prescriptions for medications or visits. If present, go to the pharmacy for medications and to the clinic for the prescribed visit.<\/p>\n<p>Always keep the documentation provided.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong> if you have a family doctor in Italy, give them a copy of the documentation.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"accessps-section\">\n<h2>DISCHARGE TO OUTPATIENT FACILITY<\/h2>\n<p>The day and time of the Outpatient Visit are in the<br \/><strong>&#8220;NOTES AND PRESCRIPTIONS&#8221;<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n<div class=\"accessps-two-col\">\n<div>\n<p><strong>You must present yourself bringing:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>all your medical documentation<\/li>\n<li>the emergency department record<\/li>\n<li>the prescription for the visit provided at the emergency department<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t<span class=\"accessps-inline-icon accessps-inline-icon--pair\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/accesspstheme\/assets\/images\/accessps\/uscita\/icona-cartella.png\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/accesspstheme\/assets\/images\/accessps\/uscita\/icona-foglio-e-matita.png\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n<p>For some services, co-payment may be required at the cashier indicated by the staff.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"accessps-section\">\n<h2>TRANSFER TO ANOTHER AREA<br \/>OF THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT<\/h2>\n<p>In some cases, your care pathway continues within the emergency department.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SOU \u2013 Short-stay Observation Unit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You will remain in a dedicated area where you can undergo further tests and\/or treatments, and then be discharged or, if necessary, admitted.<\/p>\n<div class=\"accessps-photo accessps-photo--sign\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/accesspstheme\/assets\/images\/accessps\/uscita\/icona-osservazione-breve-intensiva.png\" alt=\"\"><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"accessps-section\">\n\t\t<span class=\"accessps-inline-icon\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/themes\/accesspstheme\/assets\/images\/accessps\/uscita\/icona-letto.png\" alt=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>ADMISSION TO HOSPITAL WARD<\/h2>\n<p><strong>If you are admitted:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>you will be transferred to a hospital ward<\/li>\n<li>from this point, your care pathway continues outside the emergency department<\/li>\n<li>visiting hours will be provided to you upon admission to the ward<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Sick leave certificate<\/h2>\n<p>If you need a sick leave certificate, inform the physician before discharge or admission.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"accessps-section\">\n<h2>EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT CO-PAYMENT<\/h2>\n<p>Co-payment is required for non-urgent visits not followed by admission.
